Tour Overview

The Machame Route, also known as the "Whiskey Route," is one of the most popular trails for climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. It became widely used in the early 2000s due to improvements in trekking equipment such as tents, tables, and chairs, making camping more comfortable. Unlike the Marangu Route, Machame does not have huts for accommodation, so climbers must camp along the way. Because of this, the number of porters required is slightly higher than on the Marangu Route. The Machame Route can be completed in six or seven days, with the seven-day option offering better acclimatization.
